Violins and violas valued up to $10,000 are shipped to the customer via UPS or FedEx ground service free of charge, with the customer paying the return shipping cost. Cello shipment costs are estimated based on the customer’s location and are charged to the customer. If a purchase is made, any single round-trip shipping cost is refunded to the customer.
Instruments valued over $10,000 but not exceeding $100,000 are shipped via FedEx overnight or 2-day service with the shipping cost billed to the customer’s credit card or FedEx account. Return shipping cost is also paid by the customer. If the customer chooses to purchase the instrument, Brobst Violin Shop will cover the shipping cost.
Insurance in the amount of $1,000 is required for all shipments and is available from the shipper. Coverage over the initial $1,000 and up to the maximum of $100,000 is borne by our insurance company, Heritage Insurance Services.
Violins, violas and bows are carefully packed in a well-padded hard case, placed in a carton and suspended in packing material. Cellos are packed in the same manner, or in a Kolstein shipping trunk. Basses are either crated or packed and placed in a sturdy carton and shipped by a freight carrier.
Accessories are packed appropriately and sent by U.S. mail, UPS or FedEx. Costs are determined by actual and dimensional weight.
