Giuseppe Stefanini

Giuseppe Stefanini started training as a luthier as an employee of Luigi Vistoli in Lugo, Italy. After WWII, he worked for Nicola Utili and Pietro Borghi, who introduced him to the Bisiach family. Stefanini collaborated closely with the Bisiach family for many decades and moved to Brescia in 1957. In 1986 he moved to Florence, where he met Paolo Vettori. The two makers developed a friendship and collaborated for many decades.

Stefanini’s work is inspired by various classical makers but his instruments are marked by their individuality. Often, his work is characterized by full archings with narrow channeling. Stefanini remained in Florence until his death in 1992.
