Carl Becker

Carl Becker was a renowned American maker who earned international recognition. Becker was born in Chicago in 1887. He worked and trained with John Hornsteiner at Lyon & Healy for 15 years. Hornsteiner started his own shop in 1908 and Becker worked for him until 1923. He started working for William Lewis & Son in Chicago 1924. His highly sought after instruments were used by numerous professional groups such as the Chicago Symphony and the Selinger String Quartet Party. In 1969, Becker established an independent shop with his son.
