Claudio Testoni

Claudio Testoni was born in Marano sul Panaro in 1957. He developed an interest in violin making at a young age, and at age 20 he began to study the craft with esteemed maker Mario Gadda. Testoni was Gadda’s only student. As a result of Gadda’s training, Testoni’s instruments are made in the Mantuan tradition. He has based many of his violins on the models of famed Mantuan luthiers Stefano Scarampella and Gaetano Gadda.

Testoni is revered internationally for his expert craftsmanship and his skill in using rare woods and natural oils in his instruments. His work has been displayed and honored at exhibitions around the world.
