Thomas Dignan

Thomas Joseph Dignan was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1953. He began his career in music playing the double bass professionally. In 1974 he began making bows, and in 1976 he graduated from Berklee College of Music. He then worked for John Norwood Lee in Chicago from 1979 to 1981. Soon after, he returned to Boston and worked for J. Bradley Taylor from 1981 to 1983. In 1983, he opened his own shop. He has received great recognition for his expertise and has earned 17 awards including gold medals from the Violin Society of America for a violin bow in 1986 and a cello bow in 1992. He has also won international recognition by placing fourth at a competition in Kassel, Germany in 1983.
