Giuseppe Castagnino

1883 – 1966

 

Born in 1883, Giuseppe Castagnino learned the basics of violinmaking from his father Pietro, an amateur maker. Castagnino studied in Munich in the workshop of maker Giuseppe Fiorini. He then returned to Chiavari and established himself independently. He participated in numerous competitions, winning medals at Milan, Rome, and Turin.
