Daniela Solcà

Daniela Solcà was born on October 14, 1977 in Mendrisio, Switzerland. After receiving a linguistic degree in Switzerland in 1996, she decided to follow her passion for music and stringed instruments in Cremona, Italy. There, she enrolled in the International Violinmaking School of Cremona and graduated in 2000. Just four years later, Solcà opened her own workshop in Cremona. There she worked with Gianluca Zanetti and Cecilia Piazzi. She became a member of the Violin Society of America in 2007 along with the Consortium of Violinmakers “Antonio Stradivari” of Cremona. She later opened another workshop in her hometown of Mendrisio in 2010.

Solcà draws her inspiration for her instruments from the models of Amati, Stradivari, and Guarneri, but also uses Emiliana, Torinese and Milanese models. To achieve the excellency of sound in her instruments, Solcà only uses the best quality woods and materials. She has participated in several competitions and won a gold medal for her violin in the Second National Violinmaking Competition of Città di Pisogne.
