Olav Breivik

Olav Breivik was born in Norway in 1898. He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the age of 16. In 1927, he moved to Chicago, where he began training as a luthier. In 1934 he returned to Milwaukee, where he opened his own workshop and worked for the remainder of his life.

Breivik made 188 instruments over the course of his career, mostly based on models of Stradivari and Guarneri. He also worked as an expert repairer and restorer.
