Michele Dobner
Born in 1967 in Vicenza, Italy, Michele Dobner completed his training of violin making and restoration in Milan. He then moved to Madrid, Spain to work with José Maria Lozano. He currently lives and works in Cremona, crafting and restoring instruments. Dobner’s instruments have been recognized in several competitions, including the 2008 Violin Society of America competition, in which he won two silver medals for a cello and quartet. He is also a founding member of the Stradivariazioni, a Cremonese makers’ group that has hosted concerts and exhibitions at the well known Stradivari house. Dobner has been particularly inspired by the quartet Stradivari built in 1690 for the court of Spain and strives to craft his instruments with a similar quality of sound and uniformity.
