Hughes Emile Blondelet was born in 1875. Blondelet joined the Thibouville-Lamy Workshop in Mirecourt when he was just 15 years old. He became known for his excellent workmanship and his Amati and Stradivarius violin models. At the age of 33, he was appointed co-director of the Thibouville-Lamy firm. He had his own workshop in Mirecourt late in his life, where he produced many instruments of great value. Blondelet died prematurely in 1928, but the legacy of his craftsmanship continued to influence luthiers of the 20th century.
