Plinio Michetti, Turin c. 1940

This violin is a copy of an 1850 violin by Joannes Pressenda and bears a Pressenda facsimile label. The varnish is of a rich red-brown color and the violin has an antiqued finish. The top is made from two pieces of spruce with narrow grain. The back is made from a single piece of maple with a striking pattern of flaming. The irregular, downward sloping flaming, combined with the area of shading to an amber ground, provide the instrument with a unique and very attractive appearance.
