Ludwig Neuner, Berlin 1889

Based on a golden period Stradivari model, this violin is a very fine example of this maker’s work. Having worked with Gabriel Lembock in Vienna, J.B. Vuillaume in Paris and a brief time in London prior to his move to Berlin, Neuner was able to acquire intimate knowledge of the classic Italian makers. These important influences are clearly evident in this violin as shown in the choice of model and wood, its precise workmanship and vibrant golden varnish. The sound quality is rich and powerful, with sweetness and warmth, good projection and balance. This violin is an excellent choice as a solo or orchestral instrument.
