Louis Guersan (label), Paris c. 1760, 7/8 size
A fine French cello made circa 1760, bearing a label that reads “Ludovicus Guersan prope Comoediam Gallicam Lutetioe anno 1760”. The back is made from two pieces of maple with medium width flame. The top is made from two pieces of spruce with fine grain, widening at the flanks. The varnish is a dark orange-brown color over an amber ground. Body length is 27-5/8 inches making it a 7/8 cello.
