John Juzek, Prague 1924

Jan Juzek was a Czechoslovakian violin maker. He exported many instruments to the United States from the Czechoslovak Musical Instruments company using the name John Juzek. Like many of Juzek’s instruments, this violin is a Guarneri model and it is in excellent condition. It has varnish of a deep wine-red color shaded almost entirely to an amber ground, leaving an interesting irregular pattern of darker color. The violin has an attractive antiqued finish. The top is made from two pieces of spruce with narrow grain widening at the edges. The back is made from a single piece of maple with medium width flame ascending from the left. It has a bright, large tone.
