French, Mirecourt c. 1830 labeled “Joseph Sisty, Luthier / Mirecourt, Annee 1763”

A lovely French violin, made around the late 19th century.  This violin has a fine, colorful tone quality with warmth and power.  It features a beautiful one piece back of medium flamed maple and has a lovely dark red-brown varnish over an amber ground.  Formerly the property of a talented musician who lovingly played on it and faithfully maintained it over many years, it is now awaiting its new caregiver and home.
